AOA has an on-line Eldercare Locator that links consumers to the information and referral (I&R) services of their state and area agencies on aging. These I&R programs can help you identify appropriate services in the area where you or your family member resides. You can also call Eldercare Locator at 1-800-677-1116 to obtain information about available services in your area.
National Long Term Care Ombudsman Resource Center http://ltcombudsman.org
Ombudsmen serve over 2 million residents of nursing homes, boarding homes and other care facilities. The Ombudsman Resource Center presents information on a wide variety of issues ombudsmen must address to run their programs efficiently. Whether local or state, ombudsmen are challenged to effectively manage their programs.

Nursing home residents have patient rights and certain protections under the law. The nursing home must list and give all new residents a copy of these rights. Every resident has the right to be treated with dignity, respect and must be informed in writing about services and fees before you enter the nursing home.

The Director of the Office reports to the Secretary and serves as an advisor on HHS activities relating to disabilities. The Office on Disability oversees the implementation and coordination of disability programs, policies and special initiatives for 54 million persons with disabilities.

CareWatchers is a non-profit organization that advocates for protecting residents' rights, quality of life and care in nursing homes, boarding homes, and in adult family homes. CareWatchers also advocates for the rights of family in long term care facilities, family rights are important in the care of residents. CareWatchers is supportive of the resident council, family council, and the long term care ombudsman.

Resident Council of Washington (RCW) assists with keeping facilities accountable to residents and their families. RCW seeks to empower residents to live life to the fullest. We recognize that disability and/or chronic illness does not mean inability. A resident council is one way to create decision making opportunities for residents.

Information center on long-term care and caregiver resources. FCA offers assistance to caregivers and focuses on education, services, research and advocacy.

NFCA is an organization which supports family caregivers through education and information, support and validation, public awareness and advocacy.

TLC in LTC is an Illinois coalition of family members and friends of long term care residents. Sponsored by I Care Long Term Care Ombudsman Program; funded by The Retirement Research Foundation; and supported by Illinois Retired Teachers Association Foundation.

Pioneer Network is a grassroots social movement to change the culture of aging for the 21st century. This site includes information on the Pioneer mission, vision, values, principles, and practices. ADEAR is a service of the National Institute of Aging. This site includes a large amount of information about Alzheimer’s, including reports, research, a health information database, and a clinical trials database. Publications, including fact sheets, resource information, a newsletter, reports, and training materials, are free online.

CHSRA conducts research and develops decision support systems to improve long term care and health systems. This site includes information on projects undertaken by CHRSA, including Revision to the Survey Process, OSCAR, Quality Indicators, and the Minimum Data Set.

It also leads the user to more comprehensive data on that particular issue. This site provides access to the statistical information gathered in the National Nursing Home Survey of 1995 and 1997.
